I did my first troubleshooting session tonight. I was worried about only having 2 hours alotted but time was the least of my concerns. I finished at 70 minutes so almost an hour to spare. I did quite OK, 60% if I grade myself strictly, not too shabby for my first attempt. Some tickets I solved but not in the same fashion as the solution guide, sometimes you look for more complex solutions than needed. Troubleshooting is definately fun and hopefully one of the skills that will be most useful in real life after becoming a CCIE.

    Hey Daniel,
Do you got any tips getting into the networking field in Sweden? Mostly what you see is senior positions not alot of junior positions…and those require experience also 🙁 .

      Hi Erik,

Finding the first job is always difficult but here are some advice.

To be successful in networking you also need to know how to use social networks, try to go to events where you can meet future employers, Cisco arranges some as well as recruitment companys. Use sites like Linkedin.

I don’t know if you have any certifications yet but CCNA is something that is valuable.

When you are looking for jobs don’t just check the regular sites, try calling some companies and ask if they need anyone even though they don’t have an ad out. Check with friends etc if they know of any open positions.

Try to find an organization where you can do some volunteer work and practice on equipment. I started out working with Dreamhack the worlds largest LAN while I was going to the university in Jönköping. I got to work on a lot of Cisco equipment like 7600, CRS1, 3560/3750 etc and also met a lot of really good friends and thanks to it I have a broad base of contacts.

I hope this gives you some pointers, feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.

      /Daniel
