So hit 200 hours today. Closing in on the written, have a few more chapters to read and then study questions with Boson and the cert guide. Probably approaching 20% done of the CCIE as I calculate that I need at least 1000 hours to be fully prepared. Merry christmas to everyone reading the blog 🙂

Out of interest, how do you calculate time spent studying? I just read my books if and when I can

I keep a log in Excel. I do most of my studying when I commute. So I put an entry time when I start and when I end and then count the minutes studied. The reason I do it is because I think I should be ready or close to when reaching 1000 hours and when I’m done I will probably do some charts of my study time, might be helpful for other candidates. I could upload the file if you’re interested but its just a plain .xls with what I studied and for how long.

Naah it’s okay. My study ‘schedule’ is far more haphazard. I wish I could study on my commute, but the tube in London at rush hour makes it impossible to attempt to read and learn anything at the same time.

That means I might study for an hour before work at my desk, or at home. So don’t really want to have to find a sheet to update 🙂
